Two world known futurists, authors and commentators, Chris Skinner and David Birch will discuss "What is the real nature of trust?" together with top- notch speakers

To answer that question, we are gathering luminaries from around the world to discuss the depths and breadths of trust. From trust in technology to trust in relationships, we will explore what this really means to the customers, the customer's perspective and more.



David G.W Birch is an author, advisor and commentator on digital financial services. He is Global Ambassador for Consult Hyperion (the secure electronic transactions consultancy that he helped to found), Technology Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Financial Innovation (the London-based think tank), a Visiting Professor at the University of Surrey Business School and holds a number of board-level advistory roles. Before helping to found Consult Hyperion in 1986, he spent several years working as a consultant in Europe, the Far East and North America. He graduated from the University of Southampton with a B.Sc (Hons.) in Physics.

Dave was named one of the global top 15 favourite sources of business information (Wired magazine) and one of the top ten most influential voices in banking (Financial Brand); created one of the top 25 “must read’ financial IT blogs; was found to be one of the top ten Twitter accounts followed by innovators, along with Bill Gates and Richard Branson (PR Daily); was ranked in the top three most influential people in London’s FinTech community (City A.M.), was voted one of the European “Top 40” people in digital financial services (Financial News), was listed of the world’s top 100 most influential FinTech leaders (Hot Topics), rated Europe’s most influential commentator on emerging payments (Total Payments) and was recently awarded Contributor of the Year 2018 by the Emerging Payments Association

Chris Skinner is known as an independent commentator on the financial markets and fintech through his blog, the, as author of the bestselling books Digital BankValueWeb and its new sequel Digital Human. He is Chair of the European networking forum The Financial Services Cluband Nordic Finance Innovation, as well as being a Non-Executive Director of the Fintech consultancy firm 11:FS. 


He is on the Advisory Boards of many companies including B-Hive, Bankex, empowr, IoV42, Innovate Finance, Life.SREDA, Moven, Meniga, Pintail, Project Exscudo and the Token Fund, and has been voted one of the most influential people in financial technology by the Wall Street Journal’s Financial News and Thomson Reuters

Benoît Legrand (49) began his career as an investment banker at Bank Bruxelles Lambert in 1994, before it became ING Belgium. He rejoined the Group a few years later, after founding his own start-up company in retail distribution.


Benoît has an extensive international experience within the ING Group having worked in Investment Banking, Retail and Private Banking covering diverse areas such as Marketing, Sales, Branch Distribution and Product Management in Belgium, Singapore, Poland, the Netherlands and France.


In 2007 he was appointed to the Executive Board of ING Nederland where he lead the total make-over of Private Banking and Securities and took an active part in the merger of Postbank and ING Bank.


He was appointed CEO of ING Direct France in 2010 and Country CEO ING France in 2013, after merging all retail, commercial banking and real estate activities in France into one single integrated entity. 


In 2015, Benoît has been appointed President of ING Bank France and Global Head of FinTech and subsequently CEO of ING Ventures, ING’s EUR 300m Corporate Venture Capital arm, being instrumental in ING’s innovation leadership.


Since January 2018, Benoît is ING’s Chief Innovation Officer.


Benoît graduated in Economics from Catholic University of Leuven and in International Relations from the London School of Economics.

Inma Puig is a clinic psychologist, from Barcelona University, and academic collaborator at the Department of People Management and Organisation at ESADE (1994-2016). She specializes in group dynamics and people behavioral analysis. She’s also expert in creating, training and developing high performance teams both in sports and business organisations.

Pshycologist for the Barcelona F.C. from the season 2003-2004 until 2018, working with the football and basketball teams at all competition levels, specially dedicated to first teams and to develop the educational and personal project for La Masia residents. In the sports world she has also worked with Formula 1, Moto GP, numerous national and international tennis players from the ATP and AWS circuits and within the Davis Cup. She has also worked with professional athletes from ski, golf and professional horse riding.

During the last 20 years she’s been organisational advisor for several companies from corporations to Family Owned companies. She's also in charge of the “Emotions Management” program at El Celler de Can Roca named in two occasions the best restaurant in the world.

As an author, she has published “Family Portraits. Whatever you wanted to know and never dared to ask about family owned companies” and coauthored with Josep Roca “Behind the vines. A trip to the soul of wines”. She has recently published “Emotional Revolution. We all need the same to feel good”. Additionally, she's team mentor, public speaker, professor and advisor in several institutions.

An industrial engineer who loves to sing and play guitar, Marisol Menendez believes deeply in the power of trust to drive change, and in collaborative innovation. 


She is Chief Open Innovation Officer at South Summit, the global Open Innovation platform that connects startups, corporations and investors and former Global Head of Open Innovation at BBVA – where she designed and developed the Open Innovation project since its beginning. This experience has given her a unique understanding of both the corporate and startup worlds, needed to develop successful collaborations. She has  developed a close-knit, global network of allies and partners that have proven critical to the success of the open innovation project.  She is perfectly positioned to connect the dreamers and visionaries and bring the latest technology to all of us. Her favourite quote is, "True innovation will come, not from new technologies, but from new forms of collaboration." 


Marisol is an expert with more than 20 years of experience in the areas of open innovation, fintech and digital transformation. An Industrial Engineer with an MBA, currently pursuing a PhD in Open Innovation. Marisol is known for her inclusive leadership style, talent for creating high-performance teams, and ability to establish lasting connections. 

Ewan is the Chief Digital Office at Nordea Bank. 


He is a seasoned corporate entrepreneur with a proven track record and deep experience leading transformation change in large organisations.


At Nordea, Ewan established Nordea Ventures to make investments into the fintech ecosystem and is responsible for leading the bank’s digital transformation activities.


Prior to joining Nordea, Ewan brought his expertise and passion to enterprises such as Royal Bank of Scotland, Nationwide Building Society, Reed Exhibitions and Frist Data. 


After finishing University, he founded a dotcom start up, and spent his twenties building and selling a host of successful digital products and services. 


Ewan is a current programmer with a long-standing preference of PHP/MySQL on the LAMP stack. He has created apps for iOS and Android and recently coded a system to hook into Amazon’s AWS as well as authored many online services that have reliably supported millions of users.
